AMT HIIT Routine

I have a love/hate relationship with cardio. I love not doing it, and I hate doing it. I recognize that it’s good for me so I do it regularly each week, but let’s be honest: what part of feeling like you’re about to endure a heart attack and/or anaphylaxis is enjoyable? That’s why when I do cardio, I have to find ways to make myself forget that I’m doing it. Legal ways.

Group classes are always a great option to induce cardio amnesia, but sometimes they just don’t fit into your schedule, or you find yourself without the extra funds. Due of some karmically cruel combination of the two, and an interest in more weight lifting-focused workouts, I’ve been sweating at the campus gym this summer. Since I’m enrolled in classes, it’s covered by my tuition. And since people are insane, it’s open from 6 am until 1 am most days. Aaaand there go my excuses. Thanks kind of!!!

Despite the fact that I am doing more strength training lately, I still can’t escape the evils of cardio, which tend to be even more excruciating at the gym. Running on the treadmill gives me anxiety and knee pain, and the elliptical often makes me feel lazy. Whine. Luuuuckily, there is one machine that allows me to torch calories, drip sweat, and not get hurt. It is the Precor Adaptive Motion Trainer. To me, it feels like a combination treadmill, elliptical, and stair machine, minus the annoying aspects of all of them. You’ve probably seen these at your gym and you’ve maybe even stepped foot on one, only to realize that you didn’t know what you were doing. Not a good look, right?

So today I’m sharing the high intensity interval routine I’ve been using lately. It consists of a 5 minute warm up, five rounds of alternating 2 minutes moderate intensity and 2 minutes high intensity, and a 5 minute cool down. If that was gibberish, just check out the graphic and, as always, leave any questions you may have in the comments Torch some calories without getting hurt or bored at the gym with this HIIT routine! | The Slender Student

  1. I finally have time, and a gym with a child watch, to work out. I am 28 and 182lbs. I have fallen in love with the amt machine, and have recently started intervals of 2 minutes fast stride (5 on step/ 9 on stride) 2 minutes step (5 on step/4 on stride). I am pouring sweat when I am done, and it says I have burned anywhere from 350-400 cals. I am also doing every other day 123 strive smart strength weight circuit, and some days I do 5 miles on bike, 2 miles walking at 8 and 12 incline, and zumba. Yesterday was 3 weeks and I havent lost a pound. I am so discouraged, but I also have PCOS so supposedly it is really hard to lose. I eat different everyday but it can range from 1350-2000 calories. WIll I ever lose this weight??????????
